Stirling takes a key step forward in Land Stewardship

Stirling members voted at the March 9 congregational meeting to move forward with a vision and values that will guide the future of our six properties.

Our Vision: We will use the land Stirling currently stewards to create inclusive, affordable and environmentally sustainable housing that encourages community.

Our Values: In this work, we will embody a Bold Collaborative Spirit as we seek to Honour the Land and Its History. We will exercise Environmental Responsibility and be both ambitious and practical in our Financial Stewardship. A Christ-like Love will guide our choices.

We used a four-option Accountable Voting process to make this decision, with 81 votes cast. Results were:

  • 75%: “I am In Favour”

  • 14%: “I am Neutral” – I can live with the proposed motion.

  • 9%: “I have concerns” – But I can live with the proposed motion.

  • 2%: “I am Not in Favour” – I have strong concern about the effect of the proposed motion on the community.

The vision and values provide a framework for the many decisions to come. As we move forward, we encourage all who both support the project and all who have reservations to continue to share them with us.

Let’s rally around this unique opportunity to live out God’s love for our world. If you can offer time or expertise, connect with Steve Manske. If you have concerns, connect with either Steve or one of the pastoral staff.
